Kitchen cabinet painter Reigate Banstead Surrey: This is a short blog from HPKUK Surrey painter Louis Adamthwaite.

I was contacted by Mr and Mrs Roberts as they had decided that their kitchen was looking tired and dated and did not go with the new colour scheme that they had chosen. They were looking for someone to help them transform it in to the vision that they had in mind. Once we had discussed their ideas and they told me the type of colour scheme that they wanted. I advised that the tallboy and the inside of the glass cabinet should be picked out in the fog colour and all the other units should be painted in Neptune Lily. I also painted the inside of the tallboy in Lily to help tie all the colours together within the kitchen.

Mr Roberts had a rough idea of what was to be done as he had done a lot of research in to kitchen painting before contacting me.

Once all the units had been appropriately taken apart. The cabinets were thoroughly cleaned so that the paint would adhere to the units and the finish product would last.

The worktops and flooring were both covered to prevent them from getting damaged.

After all doors, drawer fronts and carcass had been cleaned I then proceeded to sand them to ensure that everything was smooth using 180 grit sand paper with my dust free sanding machine. Everything was then vacuumed and wiped down to ensure there were no remnants of dust left on the doors.

Now everything was ready for painting. I started by applying 1 coat of adhesion primer on all the solid wood. For all the Formica and the hardboard I used 1 coat of cover stain before sanding again. The surfaces were then checked for fine filling.

Mr & Mrs Roberts had decided that they were going to use the colours Lily and Fog which are by a company called Neptune.

I was ready to start the painting process. Starting by undercoating all units and carcasses in Dulux QD undercoat. I once again sanded the units, doors and drawers to ensure that the customer received the high standard of finish that they were looking for.
