Kitchen cabinet painter mark wilkinson Essendon Hertfordshire: The late prolific and hugely successful romantic novelist Dame Barbara Cartland lived in the parish of Essendon at Camfield Place. The writer, renowned for her pink gowns, died 15 years ago at the age of 98 and chose to be buried on the estate, such was her love for it. She was laid to rest under an oak tree which was said to have been planted by Queen Elizabeth I in 1550. She opted for an environmentally friendly cardboard coffin.
I have painted many kitchens in this beautiful Hertfordshire village, many were for Mark Wilkinson, whom I contracted to for approx 15 years. Kitchen cabinet painter mark wilkinson essendon hertfordshire
This particular client got in touch as she wanted her kitchen freshened up. The oak top on the island had a fair amount of candle burns and needed re finishing which I also done. In instances like this, I remove the top layer and any stains using the festool. I then re finish using osmo top oil, a fantastic product with a beautoful sheen.
In some of my earlier blogs I have mentioned that The Cooks kitchen is a favourite design of mine. It has oversized oak knobs which really complement this curvy design. Quite a few of the runners needed adjusting. I also used a couple of thin packers behind hinges to allow for better closing. This is a simple procedure and makes a huge difference to the functionality of the furniture. Kitchen cabinet painter mark wilkinson essendon hertfordshire
Inset Oak Drawers
The inset oak drawers was a design feature and gives a touch of style to this classic kitchen. The oak knobs cleaned down, re sanded and lacquered. Dulled down to remove the sheen with a simple de glossing technique. Kitchen cabinet painter mark wilkinson essendon hertfordshire
This is a good use of different materials! The European oak complements the stone floor and the newly painted cabinets tie it all together. All in all a fantastic project.
The close up shot of the quad detail above shows the level of sheen and finish I achieve. You would be hard pushed to find any heavy brushmarks!
The client asked me to re finish a table which had been damaged by water. I made no promises but it came out as good as new. The lady asked me to price her oak wardrobes which I will do in a later blog. Kitchen cabinet painter mark wilkinson essendon hertfordshire
