Hand Painted Kitchen in Blackheath

I was contacted by my clients who have a fabulous home with a bespoke kitchen made by a local company, in beautiful historic Blackheath, London. The kitchen came pre-primed in white however was badly sprayed, I had to virtually strip it back to bare wood. The clients had already picked a colour Studio Green by Farrow & Ball. A beautiful deep green and one of my favourite colours for kitchens. Kitchen cabinet painter Blackheath

To hand paint a kitchen you must follow certain processes. Once the client has picked a colour, I dismantle all the doors and drawers, removing all handles and hinges. This makes it very easy to prepare and paint the units to produce a  flawless finish. After dismantlement I take the kitchen back to my workshop to prepare and paint. Now stripped back to bare wood I can start making good any imperfections. hand painted kitchens Blackheath

Once filled the with an epoxy resin filler and satisfied I have prepared everything thoroughly I use an adhesive primer which is colour matched, which helps give a deep and long lasting finish. Kitchen cabinet painter Blackheath

The clients opted for a eggshell finish. Between coats I always sand down with Mirka 1000 grade sandpaper attached to my sander which also helps me achieve a glass like finish. I always use Tikkurila Helmi 30 for my kitchens, a brilliant paint, designed for kitchens and also free standing furniture, extremely hard wearing and furthermore is water based, so no lingering or toxic fumes, especially important if any young children in the house

Finally phase, refit the kitchen!
