Kitchen cabinet painter Wandsworth: I was contacted by clients Tom & Elaine who had a beautiful house in Wandsworth, who had a country style oak kitchen made 15 years ago that now looked tired. After a few discussions on colours they decided on Purbeck Stone for the kitchen and utility, and Hague Blue for the island.Kitchen cabinet painter Wandsworth
With an oak kitchen it’s very important to degrease the kitchen first. Firstly, remove any chemicals and secondly it leaves a really clean surface to sand down.Kitchen cabinet painter Wandsworth

The images below were sent by the client. They also show how dark the kitchen looked

Once sanded I filled all imperfections with an epoxy resin filler. Before priming I sealed all knots with knotting and a shellac based sealer. On oak kitchens the next stage is the most important, the priming coat. For the primer I used Otex adhesion primer, it’s really important to use an adhesion primer on oak or pine kitchens or you stand a good chance the paint will start to pickle over time.
Dismantling the cabinets
To get the best possible finish you have to dismantle all the doors and drawers, removing all handles and hinges, making it very easy to prepare and paint the doors to get the perfect flawless finish. The next step is to take it back to my workshop to prepare and paint.
