A short blog by Ryan Nicholson. HPKUK specialist in the North East.
I was approached online by a customer who was thinking about getting a new kitchen. I went to her house to discuss what I could do and to give her a price. After speaking to her for a hour about primers colours and showing her my albums of endless kitchens she decided to go ahead with a hand painted finish. The units were a plastic wrapped doors with lots of chips and dents in them so I knew I had my work cut out making them perfect.Kitchen cabinet painter Darlington County Durham
When I started the job two weeks later I went ahead giving them a good degrease. I then a done a wash down with white spirit to make sure all residues were removed. I then filled all chips and dents with a 2 part filler. Once it was all filled and sanded I applied two coats of primer to the units to make sure the eggshell takes well and that no paint chips off in the future. When the primer had dried and had cured I started sanding with a fine sand paper to make sure the surface were smooth and ready for two coats of eggshell.
After I gave the top coat time to dry I went and put all the knobs back on. Kitchen cabinet painter Darlington County Durham
This kitchen turned out great and we were really pleased with how the primer took to the surface.
Once the customer had got back and seen the kitchen she was so happy. She said it’s like having a new kitchen for a fraction of the price.
Any kitchen surface can be painted using the correct primers. The primer is the most important coat.
